Property Information:
This beautiful European Style Country Manor is the essence of country living. One look at this estate and its surroundings and you will understand the true meaning of natural beauty. Entirely hand-crafted inside and out there are no words to describe the unique splendor and beauty of this luxurious home. Situated ideally on a 10 acre hilltop between the Cumberland Mountains and Lake Chickamauga one couldn’t dream of more spectacular views.
This 6,000 square foot Estate was originally built in 1968 and refurbished over the course of 4 years in 1990. The attributes of the home were styled after European traditions and these features are evident throughout the exterior and interior of the home. The exterior of the estate was hand crafted by stone and the windows are also adorned by exquisite stone work. The metal railings and all iron work around the home were all hand crafted by specialized artisans. The estate is surrounded by extensive gardens & stonework. A fine example of one of the gardens is a Celtic style sunken stone vegetable garden. In addition, a 1400 tree forest was planted throughout the 10 acres consisting of native hardwoods, fruiting and ornamental trees. An Orchard bearing apples, pears, peaches, cherries, plums, and blueberries resides on the property. These charming features create a rustic aurora around the property and you must see these fine pieces of artwork to truly appreciate them.
The interior of the home is just as exquisite as the exterior of the home. Artisans were brought in from all over the country to create an eclectic European style home on site. At first glance one can see the authenticity of the home merely by viewing the front door; brought over from a monastery in Belgium from the early to mid 1800’s. Continuing on into the Foyer, there is antique oak paneling along the staircase leading upstairs that was hand crafted and knifed to create a rippling effect in the paneling.
The living room is the epitome of a European fashioned room. Designed with the great hall concept in mind, the living room has a hand-made iron medieval styled chandelier, huge fireplace, and 20 foot ceilings held in place by hand hewn oak (wood that was shaped by hand via ax or knife not run through a planner or saw). This great-hall living room opens to terraces on both sides creating the freedom to move from the fresh outdoors to the great indoors and also allows for amazing views.
Upon entering the kitchen, you instantaneously get a “cozy feeling”. As with every other room in the house, there is extensive woodwork. Hand hewn timbers support the ceiling and beautifully crafted woodwork is evident throughout the kitchen. There is nothing ordinary about this kitchen. A magnificent sawn stone countertop is supported by limestone with an embedded hand made double copper sink. There is a commercial stove with two ovens ornamented with a copper hood.
