FOUR FLOORS OF COMPLETELY FURNISHED LUXURIOUS LIVING SPACE, ideal as a vacation home for a large family or for two or more families. The house features a carpeted circular stairway leading from the ground level to the fourth level. Copper plumbing and new electricity throughout. Central heating on all four levels, consisting of hot water radiators (fuel oil), plus a recirculation hot water system that provides instant hot water on all floors, with a backup hot water storage tank. Economical electric heating and air conditioning units were installed on all levels except the fourth level in the Fall of 2006.

Numerous electrical receptacles, both 220 volt and 110 volt; Television and telephone jacks in all rooms except on the fourth level; One or more ceiling fanlights in all rooms except on the fourth level, in the dining room and entry.

Eight Fireplaces (six renovated) Dual pane French doors and windows; fitted carpeting of a neutral champagne color installed over eight pound rebond pad; beautiful French and Spanish tile; wood floors in front entry and in first level sitting room.

Two Courtyards on the ground level; two Stone Terraces on the second level; the Garden features a wrought iron ivy covered Pergola and stone walkway to the rear Terrace; there is a 210 square foot workshop (built in Fall 2006) at the end of the garden; and an above-ground Spa (accommodating 4-5 persons) on the rear terrace.

The La Souvigne River runs through this narrow and scenic valley of small, quaint villages and hamlets, which is near the southern end of the Departement (state) of Corrèze where it borders the three departements of the Dordogne, the Lot and the Cantal. Corrèze is situated in the Limousin region, which is famous for its production of beef - the Limousin cattle. The Cascades de Mural (waterfall) is a short distance from Forgès and is easily accessible on foot. There are numerous natural springs of pure drinkable water within the village and the immediate surrounding area. A favorite activity of the locals is mushroom hunting in the forest and hiking to the various cascades [water falls]. There is an abundance of wild flowers, wild strawberries, blackberries and raspberries.

There are numerous major rivers - the Dordogne with its six dams providing electrical power, the Corrèze, Cére, Vézére, Lot, Marrone & Garonne rivers - caves that boast drawings by prehistoric man and scenic rock formations caused by water erosion - numerous castles, some of which are still occupied by the owners. There are hillside villages built into the rock mountainsides - goose farms where one can witness the preserving of Confit & the world famous Foie Gras - the making of Chevre (goat cheese) is popular near Rocamadour in the Lot and the Cantal Cheese is made near Aurillac in the Cantal - the porcelain capitol of France in Limoges is just one hour to the North. There are small vineyards of excellent wine produced locally, and the wine country of the famous St. Émilion, Pomerol, Bordeaux, Medoc, Graves & Sauterne wines is only one to two hours to the West - the beautiful industrial city of Toulouse and the Cahors wine country is 2-1/2 hours to the South - the Atlantic Coast with its sun bathed beaches, sand dunes & casinos is three hours to the West and. . . . the sights of Paris are only five hours to the North.

Summer visitors enjoy theatrical productions and concerts performed in various castles and cathedrals throughout the area. Outdoor sports activities in the area include skiing just 1-1/2 hours to the East on the Grand Massif in the Cantal; kayaking and canoeing on the Dordogne and Vézere Rivers; camping; hiking; cycling; fishing; tennis and golf. The greatest asset of this part of France is its local people who, although few speak English, are very friendly, helpful and sociable.
