The Sangre de Cristo Ranches is a beautiful rural subdivision located in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range in southern Colorado. It is near the town of Fort Garland and 30 miles east of the bustling town of Alamosa. Originally developed by Forbes, Inc. this is one of the most scenic subdivisions in Costilla County - without a doubt!
I really thought this part of the subdivision was beautiful being so close to Blanca Peak at 14,345 feet and Trinchera Peak at 13,517 feet! They both sit just to the north of this subdivision and you can see their stunning rocky peaks they are so close. It’s easy to tell why they call them the Rocky Mountains! I have commented before that the hillsides to the east in this part of the subdivision have a reddish hue to them and it looks like John Wayne is going to come riding his horse down the hillsides!
It looks to be a rolling hills similar to the photos with a slope down to the road along the east/se side of the property. The property sits on Beekman Road which is a county maintained road. The elevation of the SW part of the property at Beekman Road is 8,294 feet according to Google Earth. The elevation rises up to about 8,459 feet at the NE part of the property where the highest point is.
There is a lot of detail in the nearby hillsides with lots of trees sprinkled about and it is a stunning setting! There was a beautiful view of the pocket of snow between the two peaks! The trees filter down through the mountains from the northwest to the northeast. Rich red colors are splashed through the hills to the northeast. The roads are in excellent shape.
It is such a treat when we get one of these lots into inventory and I don't expect it will stay around very long! If you've been looking for that unique place to getaway or someday call home in the Rocky Mountains be sure and check this out!
