Completely unspoiled, the adjoining ranches, known as Rancho El Mesteno and Rancho Sierra del Nido are simply breathtaking. The former represents approximately 24,040 acres and the latter approximately 29,250 acres. They are located approximately 65 (air) miles NW of Chihuahua City, Mexico. Together, they represent the entire south slope of the El Nido range and the Pajarito range.
GEOGRAPHICAL & WILDLIFE FEATURES
Most of the property is mountainous country, the rest is in flat high mesas with elevation ranging from 6,500 to 10,000 ft. Foliage consists largely of gramma grass, along with blue stern, buffalo, Indian wheat, galleta, muhly, side oats, and zacaton. There is also edible foliage such as junque, oak brush, sage and others. The higher parts of the area have a lot of timber (Ponderosa Pine), with other areas having abundant Oak and Juniper. Willow, ash, aspen, and lein fill the valley. There are two creeks and many springs that run year round, as well as abundant seasonal springs. Game includes bear, grouse, whitetail deer, wild turkey and seasonal bang-tail pigeon.
IMPROVEMENTS
All of the ranch is fenced, except the highest parts of the mountainous land where cattle never go. There are pastures with pens, chutes and squeezes. One of the springs has a large tank and water is piped over two miles to watering tanks. There is 30 hectares of dry farming land producing approximately 5000 bales of very good grain oat hay. The land can carry 1500 head of cattle, and with more improvements, could carry an additional 500. The house is a moderately furnished 3 bedroom, 1 bath house.
