TRADE CENTER: Trinidad has a population of around 9,000 with an elevation of 6,025 feet. Air service is an asphalt runway of some 9,000-ft. with hangar and tie down service. There are 14 motels, one 75-bed hospital, a nursing home of 233 beds and 14 churches. Safeway is a major grocery chain as well as Wal-Mart. There are numerous small unique shops. Trinidad (Gateway to the Rockies) is an old mining town with lots of colorful history and is located on the Santa Fe Trail. One of the most scenic drives in Colorado is the Highway of Legends from Trinidad to Cuchara on Hwy. 12. Bat Masterson was the City Marshall in 1882 and it was frequented by the likes of Billy the Kid, Doc Holiday and David Gottlieb.
