Nene's Nest For Sale:
Completely Remodeled Ocean Front Hawaii Home
A rare opportunity to own a two bedroom, two bath home directly on the Pacific Ocean. This enchanting home has just been renovated right down to the studs & rafters. It may have the most stunning ocean views in Hawaii as well as providing up-front & personal viewing of dolphin & sea turtles plus a front row seat from which to watch whales give birth & train their young. Completely renovated in 2006!
Million dollar view comes with 82.97 feet of ocean frontage. Lovely home sits on a 20 cliff affording awesome vistas that stretch for miles.
The large master bedroom, encompassing the entire upper level of this home, includes bathroom, laundry room and closet, but what this level mostly offers is space, space, space plus view, view, view! The ocean views are endless and indescribable, the perspective quite different from the views from ground level.
Located 20 minutes south of Hilo on the Big Island of Hawaii. This house is located far enough from the hustle and bustle but close enough to all of life's conveniences.
Though the original house was built in the early 1970's as a fishing shack and added onto by the original owner two years later, it is now NEW! NEW! NEW! It has morphed into a house with 2026 sq ft of living space (this includes 424 sq ft. of covered lanai space). THIS HOUSE HAS BEEN TOTALLY RENOVATED! We covered the existing exterior of this well-built house with oceanfront-friendly, vertical, vinyl, board and batten siding. We also completely renovated the inside, right down to the rafters and studs, replacing all electrical wiring and plumbing, removing walls, relocating bathrooms, replacing all sinks and toilets as well as doors and windows, creating larger windows and adding additional windows in order to bring the outside inside. We even fought for and finally received and installed a new-to-the-islands product called Dryspace, a vinyl product which goes over the lanai joists. This means the joists wont have to be repainted every few years plus the space under the lanais will be dry and useable. Our goal has been to make this house as ocean friendly and as maintenance free as possible a necessity here on the ocean.
The renovation has resulted in a huge, eye-catching Great Room -- a room where the ocean is visible from all areas except inside the closet! There are two sliding glass doors -- one to the spacious downstairs oceanfront lanai the other, complete with keyed lock, leads to the driveway for easy entry to and exit from the house -- helpful when arms are full. The entire house is tiled except for the carpeted stairway.
Off the Great Room is a large L-shaped kitchen lined with cupboards of many shapes and sizes to provide all the storage you have dreamed of, including a spacious pantry. The countertops and sinks are Corian. There filter system is ultraviolet. While there is room for a table, we added a built-in snack bar facing the ocean where you will enjoy many meals as you are entertained by sea life and the ever-changing ocean. All new kitchen appliances and washer and dryer will be picked by you, paid for by us!
The final downstairs room, which has its own bathroom, walk-in closet and storage closet, will make an ideal bedroom, den or office. While one can see the ocean from this room, the prevailing view is one of dense foliage and flowering plants that fill the window like a mural.
It is hard to find enough positive adjectives to describe the upstairs! Friends call it the WOW room. There is, of course, a bathroom and closet, the laundry area is even conveniently upstairs, but what this level offers with breathtaking drama is space, space, space plus view, view, view! The ocean views are endless and indescribable, the perspective quite different from the views offered by the ground level rooms. These spectacular views are made even more accessible by the newly constructed 8 by 20 covered lanai. A smaller covered lanai added to the west side, reveals dramatic views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa made all the more spectacular when their summits are covered with snow. . Let your imagine run free in this most dramatic upstairs area. We envision a bedroom/sitting room but there are all kinds of possibilities.
The detached two-car garage has also been improved with added storage space, new, vinyl siding to match the house and a vinyl garage door (another must for oceanfront living. The drive way is paved with asphalt.
And we have added new landscaping as well building stone walls and adding grass, flowers, shrubs and more palm trees to enhance the mature landscaping already in place.
