Property Information:
650 acre high mountain alpine ranch. Baldy Mountain is located about 8 miles from Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, in the Portneuf Mountain Range, about 140 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah and 25 miles south of Pocatello, Idaho. Borders State Forest on 2 sides of the property. Elevations on the ranch range from 6500 feet on East Creek to 8375 feet. It has rugged alpine terrain in places and pristine meadows and gentle forest in other locations on the ranch.
East Creek, which runs through the south end of the ranch, stays steady even in drought years. It is a year round stream with fish in it. There are numerous springs, a few ponds, and a smaller unnamed stream on the north side. Lots of wild life, heavily wooded canyons with Douglas Fir, and also some Quaken Aspen and Juniper Trees. All species of animals native to the area have been seen on the ranch, including elk, deer, moose, bear, mountain lion, beaver, coyote, bobcat and badger, along with birds of prey and waterfowl. In cooperation with other landowners, a locked gate has been installed giving a unique degree of security and privatization.
Lava Hot Springs Resort is just 20 minutes away, Yellowstone Park about a 3 hour drive, Craters of the Moon National Monument less than 3 hours, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming is about 3 hours. Being in a recreational zone, one residence per acre is allowed making it very lucrative for a conservation easement. Very private and secluded.
